AI prompt lab

Prompt maturity simulation

Start with a simple useful prompt, then advance it into ROCCCV, OKL, AGEF, and validation controls as the workflow becomes more important.

Your selected role changes what a strong prompt should emphasize, validate, and route for human review.

Important Warning - Use AI Prompts Responsibly

Treat prompts as part of your security boundary. Never copy and paste prompts from unknown or untrusted sources into environments that contain real or sensitive data. Hidden instructions can introduce prompt injection, data exfiltration, uncontrolled retention, or intellectual property leakage risks.

  • NIST AI Risk Management Framework identifies malicious manipulation, data leakage, and broader AI governance risks.
  • NIST SP 800-53 and NIST SP 800-171 reinforce input validation, integrity protection, and safeguarding of CUI.
  • OWASP Top 10 for Large Language Models identifies Prompt Injection and Data Exfiltration as primary generative AI threats.
  • OMB M-24-10, DFARS 252.204-7012, and CMMC expectations make careless prompt handling a real compliance and reporting risk in GovCon environments.
  • Bottom line: validate prompts, control prompts, and require human review before using outputs in operational work.

Start Simple, Then Mature Responsibly

You do not need enterprise-scale AI governance on day one. The lab starts with a plain-language task you can use now, then shows how that same prompt matures as your work becomes more repeatable, sensitive, or operationally important.

  • Use now: ask for a summary, checklist, comparison, outline, or questions to ask a reviewer.
  • Add structure: define role, objective, context, constraints, criteria, and validation with ROCCCV.
  • Add trusted inputs: ground the prompt in approved OKL sources such as policies, templates, past performance, SharePoint, Teams, or proposal libraries.
  • Add governance: apply AGEF thinking by naming access, review owner, evidence, audit trail, and what AI is not allowed to decide.
  • Maturity takes time: basics and fundamentals come first; governance scales as your organization depends on AI more heavily.

Audit and traceability

Prompt audit trail

Each scored prompt creates a saved training record showing what input was used, which guidance applied, how the output was framed, and what validation remains required.
